Board Members

Mikaeel Moti

Chief Executive Officer
Mikaeel Moti is the oldest son of Zunaid Moti, who serves an integral part in the succession planning of the Moti Group. Mikaeel works directly with the Group’s executives and senior management.

Dondo Mogajane

Group CFO
Mr. Mogajane joined National Treasury in 1999 as a Deputy Director and has worked in various areas. Between 2010 and May 2014, Mr. Mogajane was appointed as the Chief of Staff in the Ministry of Finance and later as the acting Chief Operating Officer from May 2014 until May 2015. Dondo joined the Moti Group in June 2022 as the group CFO.

Salim Bobat

Group CFO
Salim is a registered Chartered Accountant (CA) with over 20 years of business experience, and has acted as the Moti Group’s Head of Audit, Accounting and Tax since 2005.

Mohamedakeel Batty

Non-executive Officer
Mohamedakeel is an accountant with over 20 years of experience in the industry and has acted as the Moti group senior accountant since 2008.

Asif Batty

Non-executive Officer
Asif has extensive knowledge in Forensic and internal Audit with over 12 years of experience and is registered with ACCA. Mr Batty is a director as a number of companies involved in the mining industry, including Pulserate Investments.

Dave Willoughby

Chief Financial Officer
Dave qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 whilst serving his articles at one of the big five international audit firms. Thereafter he completed a two year stint at SARS gaining valuable tax experience before starting his own Auditing, Accounting, Tax and Advisory Practice. After twelve years in private practice and in 2008, Dave took up the Financial Director position of Moti Group's Kilken Platinum (Pty) Ltd, a PGM producer (listed on the JSE from 2008 until 2020) partnered with Anglo Platinum's Amandelbult. During Dave's tenure at the Moti Group, he gained extensive insight into the ferrochrome smelting industry and chrome concentrate production, including plant construction and subsequent operations through the Moti Group's Zimbabwe based chrome operations.

Mark Beukes

Chief Operations Officer
Mark has gained over 35 years of experience in the mining, mineral beneficiation, and logistics industries, working for major South African and international companies at a general management level. He has extensive experience in the coal and chrome mining Industries and has also managed chrome smelting operations. He has a Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management from RAU and is currently studying a B.Com in Marketing and Management Science.

Dr. Godfrey Chagonda

Chief Geologist
Godfrey Chagondah is a Zimbabwean geologist with 25 years of progressive mining and exploration geology experience gained through working with renowned international companies in Southern and Eastern Africa. His professional experience is complemented with a BSc Geology (UZ), an MSc in Exploration Geology (Rhodes University) and a PhD in Geology (UJ). Godfrey has keen interest in lithium pegmatites which has seen him work on the world-class Bikita and Sandawana pegmatites in the southern part of the Zimbabwe craton.

Michael Manyere

Chief Surveyor
Michael Manyere is a Zimbabwean prospector surveyor with over 30 years experience. Michael has successfully completed a B.SC Honours in surveying and geomatics and a M.SC in Spacial Science. Michael has served as the Moti Group's Chief Surveyor since 2016.

Wiid Rossouw

Chartered Accountant
Wiid is an Chartered Account (S.A.), having completed his B.Compt (Hons.) at the University of South Africa. Wiid placed 4th in his qualifying examinations and was in public practice prior to joining the Moti Group in 2017. Wiid has extensive experience in corporate finance, taxation and structuring and has been part of the core team managing numerous multi- million dollar transactions for the Moti Group. Wiid has been involved in all aspects of the Moti Group’s diverse portfolio, and is part of the team managing the Pulserate Lithium asset.

Farhaan Karolia

Project Finance
Farhaan is a young entrepreneur who holds a Business Science Degree specializing in Finance with Accounting from the University of Cape Town. At 24 years old, he has accumulated financial and operational management experience in the mining and beneficiation, construction and financial space. His analytical mind combined with his perseverance, dedication and discipline allows him to solve complex problems in various environments.

Legal

Natalie Graaff

In-House Counsel
Natalie obtained a B.Com and LLB degree from the University of Pretoria. Natalie has 14 years’ experience as an attorney. She previously practised as a litigation attorney, after which she moved into legal compliance work for various high profile South African companies including mining companies. Since November 2015 she has held the role of in–house legal counsel at the Moti Group, which includes dealing with all legal aspects related to the Group both in South Africa and internationally.
